Wow, has it really been nine months since I came up with the idea of running a blog? I guess it’s not really working out too well. I really wanted to post regularly, but you know. Things, and stuff.
It’s quite likely that you came here by following the link in the footer of skyrimcalculator.com. Which means you will probably find this at least somewhat interesting.
First point on the agenda today: Some great news: The 50.000th build has been saved last monday! I would never have believed this calculator would become so popular. At this moment it generates about 110.000 unique visitors a month at a steady 7.000 visits a day. If you’re interested in more stats, let me know
I had a look at the weekly results of clickheat today (it shows where your users tend to click and generates a heatmap based on that), and I noticed something funny; the Two Handed skill seems to be very impopular as it received the smallest amount of clicks. I had the impression that there were hordes of heavy armored aggressive maniacs with massive axes of epic destruction running around in the world of Skyrim, but this makes you believe otherwise.
The same seems to go for Lockpicking and Pickpocketing, though this doesn’t surprise me.
What do you think is the cause of this mysterious case? Why have all the cool kids stopped using two-handed weapons?

The allure of holding two things instead of one thing, possibly.
Or optimising dual-wielders who may or may not yet have realised that after a certain point, more damage doesn’t equate to more dead bodies because there’s nothing tougher to kill.
But my bet is on holding two things instead of one thing. If you only play once, you might as well try to hold as many things as possible.

That’s an interesting train of thought Svlad, that may very well be true.
On the other hand, my first character was a two-handed user. I decided to re-roll a dualwielder (I know, how original) and wanted to use a calculator for this, but there were none.
Perhaps more people started with a twohanded weapon but realized they got killed all the time?
Either way, I would have expected it to be more balanced

Probably because most people who want to be really aggressive would rather dual wield. That and the fact that two handers are quite slow and with dual wield you have two enchants vs one 2h enchant.
Also, a lot of people who are melee maniacs love sword and board. Not only do you get a lot of protection, but with all the perks included you become a juggernaut that can take any hit and you can still slam your shield really hard. I imagine some people have that sort of image like in 300 where he slams people ridiculously hard with his shield and knocks them clean off their feet. I’d imagine the sprinting shield slam charge is quite fun.

Thanks Omega8Trigun, now I want to start over and become exactly that guy
I’m with you on the slow-thing, but the image I had before I started playing skyrim was definitely me being all powerful with a huge axe. If you’ve ever played WoW you’ll know what I mean. Massive critical hits make you feel good.
Anyway, g2g. I’m rolling Leonidas.
